Sales assistant
culture, contact with the customers, colleagues
minimum wage (heard of living wage), asking staff to arrive 30mns before shift, still handling ZERO hours contracts, imposing sales target that contradict the whole philosophy of CEX, reducing staff discount from 20% to 15% so the franchisee can pocket the 5%, treating staff like they are retarded geeks out to fleece you...
Store manager
People are great Perks are good
Massive workload Poor wage No thanks given
Commercial analyst
Great and flexible work environment. Management is very approachable even upto the rank of CEO.
less than average salary for London Analysts. Not much scope for growth within the team.
Anonymous employee
Chilled out staff and free food.
Not anything as such actually.
Company is honestly pretty great Staff meals with unlimited cocktails Variety of jobs
Management are lazy Customers are the worst: rude, mean, clueless
Cashier
Great collegues with similar interests. Oppurtunities to apply my knowledge of electronics to a low-level job. Some nice customers, sometimes.
Very understaffed. I sometimes stood at a kiosk for 4-5 hours straight due to customer demand. Due to this, discs would pile up around you and you'd be working in upleasent conditions. Poor communication from manager to staff. Zero-hour. 1-2 hours overtime every day, usually always unpaid.
Access to the current tech/ games and films
Minimum wage, Little to no progress prospects
It beat being a bartender
The space behind the tills were very cramped
Small teams in store. Excellent discount. No appearance guidelines.
Terrible Management. Low pay; expected to do 30+ minutes of work for free every day. Only zero hour contracts
Sales supervisor
Free festival every year. 15% staff discount. Most of the people who work there are nice
Working for franchise can be absolutely dreadful as some owners don't have a clue how to run a business or manage staff. Hourly rate for supervisor was 3p and hour more than minimum wage. When I raised this issue they offered me a new contract in which I would be working for 60p less than minimum wage. No real break room was provided so staff had to take the breaks in a dusty, damp basement with a rotting wall. They will try to keep your contract on the lowest hours possible so if they want to get rid of you they just stop giving you hours. Some customers are absolutley foul to deal with and will often be rude and aggressive. Pay was wrong on several occasions. Corporate may be a bit more structured but I cant imagine it is much better
