Senior manager
Capable of amazing impactful work. Network of incredible professionals. Fantastic opportunities to learn and grow. Great benefits. Fantastic clients.!
Heavily silo’d work. Intense competitions amongst SMs. Low work/life a balance. Difficult to have a family and meet expectations. Recent increases in expectations / thresholds but with no support. A lot of junior leaders without the experience or training to handle really difficult organizational challenges. If the leader you’re aligned to leaves the firm, you essentially have to start from scratch. If you’re at SM and aren’t sure about going for partner, you can be quietly ostracized.
No pros. Extracts every drop of your blood and but pays peanuts. Doesnt care about employee wellbeing

Great place to start career. Big 4 experience definitely pulls weight later in your career.
Be prepared to work long hours, deal with big egos, brown-nosing, and not great clients.
1. The projects are good. 2. There are many learning opportunities.
1. They ask you to work on multiple projects. 2. Hikes are generally low.

Great experience & Benefits working in Deloitte USI.
No Cons as of now.
Flexible hybrid environment, excellent pay and benefits, diverse work opportunities across all industries
Toxic work culture if working with poor managers, lots of outsourced labor can expand your work hours, 45-50 hours/week is standard.
Great job when you work for and with reasonable people. Ample opportunities to grow skills and explore areas
Work really sucks when you work with the wrong people, and it is easy to get sucked into that if you are new and haven't built the right network yet. A lot of fake energy going around, as many people are afraid of conflict but it is what it is.

Corporate finance
Great colleagues - not so much management
The most senior Corporate Finance leadership in the region is emotionally volatile, insecure, and ego-driven. Anger is frequently triggered without clear cause, making reactions unpredictable and creating a constant “walking on eggshells” environment. He/they rely(ies) heavily on intimidation, status signaling, and narcissistic validation rather than competence or accountability. Psychological safety is virtually absent, and decision-making often prioritizes ego protection over sound judgment. The weekly Monday huddles exemplify this dysfunction. Agendas are set in advance, only to be abandoned on arrival, turning the session into either a personal flexing exercise for senior leadership or, when there is little substance to discuss, a scapegoating forum directed at the team. Juniors are routinely blamed for not sourcing deals on behalf of partners (framed as a failure to take ownership of one's career) - an expectation that falls well outside standard investment banking norms for junior roles.

* Good starting salary * Flexibility when it comes to PTO * Great at listing to employees when mistreated by managers
* Very tedious to get a pay raise. Not only performance but having to complete all courses that are 100hrs+ on top of actual work that needs to be done. * Seen many co-workers get denied promotions or having it be pushed back. Once a co-worker did get a promotion and only was given a 5% raise. He was entry level and they did not express to him that it was only 5%. He had to wait another 6 months to renegotiate. Management tried to delay the negotiations further until he threatened to leave. * My department however small was left without a manager for quite some time and it felt like they forgot we existed.
