Experience with management varies depending on which team you're on. For one job you might really like your boss, and in the next you don't get along with them.

Large company, lots of silos

The pay has always been average, but has lagged inflation drastically the last few years. Benefits have been whittled away over time. Medical insurance is decent, but most everything else is average. Most teams have good flexibility for WFH and the complexities of life and parenting. Offers paid maternal and paternal leave.

I have not found a true downside yet. There are quirks just like any other company.

Seems to be a who-you-know kind of company, like a fraternity: rather than being rewarded based on your merits, you find out that your boss went to school with the VP, etc. Work-life balance questionable

Office politics is pretty rampant. During my stay, green badges are pretty much excluded from quite a lot of stuff

Sometimes there are discrepancies between what we are told in town halls and what actually happens.

- The DEI programs are overdone. I would like to less focus on people's physical characteristics and just focus on treating everyone fairly. - Overcommitment on the work makes it hard to keep up.

This is not a downside, however since our customers operate 24/7/365 days a year one needs to be flexible and available to provide support at moments that matter.

Lack of growth opportunities there

Difficult to say - depends on who your manager is.

Slow pace in term of promotion since alot of senior here. While the bonus and annual increment is okay, it is still on a lower side compare to other companies in penang FIZ

Being a big company Motorola inevitably has certain levels of bureaucracy, but in some cases it might slow down things and reduce overall company effectiveness.

Way too large marketing organization with unclear role and responsibilities. Marketing doesn’t have a seat at the revenue table. Only there to please sales demand.

Middle manager nightmare Below market rate IT support and HR was horribly outsourced

Motorola has lost sight in employee satisfaction. Quotas go up significantly each year making it extremely hard to achieve your goals. Sales is tied to Revenue which consist of 30% of my commission while Motorola cannot seem to ship our products to customers in a timely fashion resulting in less commission affecting my payout. Seems like Greg Brown and Jack Malloy are more interested in raising the stock price for shareholders while the employee pays the price for less payouts as the goals are unobtainable. For example, last year only a couple of the RVPs made their quotas but Motorola as a whole had record earning numbers.

End of quarter and year brutal Schedule

No cons here, I love my job!
