Test engineer
Good team, office environment, benefit
team work become tough after company change to agile
Multinational culture, work life balance, learning and growth opportunities laterally, very supportive and friendly culture and people.
Highly political management teams, lack of diversity in management positions (mostly European white men even in Asia and the Americas).
Data engineer
Big company, nice colleagues, and good health insurance
Salary not very satisfying, working environment is not very fancy
Quality of work is very high
tenure plays a big role
Benefit: generous 401K (although other companies around are already catching up), free healthcare, food subsidies, gym membership, and travel aboard. Some department sends leads out to conferences yearly.
Lack ability to recruit top notch candidate, aging technologies are still in place with slow pace in adapting new technologies.Being heavy on benefit company, SWIFT monetary compensation lack the competitiveness and often $15-30K below big players in the area. Hence, there isn't that many top-notch candidate accepted offer from SWIFT. This trend of lack of cream of the crop pool of talent is effecting SWIFT future R&D innovation and adaptation of new technologies. Open environment + No cubical = an open zoo with no privacy and very distracted environment = down in productivity since engineer can't concentrate.
Senior product manager
Non profit organization at heart of international banking industry provides opportunity to work with community of banks around the world to deliver services of value and solve common problems without the usual commercial pressures. Good work/life balance and benefits Can generally be viewed as 'slow and safe' - good for those wanting career stability and low stress, bad for those looking for more dynamic working environment.
Slower paced than Fintechs, excessive bureaucracy at every turn- unlikely to be using / learning leading edge technologies. With agile model can be stuck for years in specific squad with little opportunities for career development Very siloed in terms of teams - job satisfaction highly dependent on where assigned.
Security management specialist
SWIFT is great, they treat their employees really well. Good benefits and premiums are paid for by the company. Everyone is easy to work with.
Pay can be low starting out for how much work is put in, and because of that people are constantly leaving for other companies which leaves some teams with too few people. They have a hybrid policy, 2 days in office a week. It's not so bad as the office is nice except that the US-based offices are located in a high-cost-of-living area, so a lot of your pay goes to the cost of living.
