One con I can highlight with this company is the compensation and salary growth. I am not sure with other departments/role but within our department, the growth is really stagnant and doesn't really match to the current industry standards. The increase on our salary per year is really mediocre compared to the amount of job that continuously being added to us from time to time. In short, this company is great only for gaining experience and developing skills. Yes this is great company to settle in if you don't mind the slow progress of your career.

It seems no downside working in Manulife.

Lots of turnover which impacts your work as you have to help with extra cases until more people are hire… rinse and repeat.

no free parking, have to reserve for parking space in a google forms the week before, no cafeteria in the office building

Regional Interruption on daily work

Working three days in office but other than that it’s amazing

The westerners in the regional office rotate themselves to Manulife HK, get a nice title, do nothing for the business and promote to regional office again. The Chinese managers just move to the side. The westerners make up excuses and label as transformation to make long serving employees redundant. Some senior management even take revenge during calibration and give you a super low rating I.e. zerolise the bonus to force you out! It's like a playground!

The bonus is not attractive.

Overworked. Pay not great. Small retirement pay. Small incentives. Sometimes no reward for working extra-mile.

Can be stressful and overwhelming with intense deadlines and BAU releases and UAT testings

None for the company as a whole just the department/BU that i am in has no team culture or thus feels like you're on an island

No genuine care for the people who keep the machine going. Constant sales strategy changes = chaotic, unfocused and disjointed service. Endless teams calls to get nowhere and very little planning for retirements.

training was not helpful and does not equip you to perform the job, managers are not supportive and provide no coaching or career development, the culture is not great clients or employees are not valued they only care about making sales, no work life balance your schedule is not set for the week it's different hours everyday, they sugar coat in the interview that annual pay would be close to 60k ( 40 base + 20k commission) but the goals to receive commission are very hard to meet, workload is a lot you do what is supposed to be 3 departments job. Metrics are unrealistic, less than 1min in between calls and no more than 2-5 min per calls. Some benefits such as dental or health are not that great and doesn't cover a lot regardless of the plan you chose

Management of the company is horrendous. Profit driven and like to cut cost via commission payable to agents. Products are by and large segmented towards HNW / mass affluent crowd so it will be hard if you start from scratch from retail market

Stress and time management pressures

Usual slow admin processes and a bit of politics which is tolerable
