About Us

AirAsia was founded in 1993 and relaunched in 2001 by Tony Fernandes, who transformed it from a struggling state-owned airline into Asia's most recognised low-cost carrier. With the vision of making air travel accessible to everyone, AirAsia pioneered no-frills flying in Southeast Asia at a time when affordable regional travel was virtually unheard of.

Over the years, AirAsia expanded rapidly — launching AirAsia X for long-haul routes, establishing bases across Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and India, and growing its fleet to hundreds of aircraft. The airline has won the Skytrax World's Best Low-Cost Airline award for over a decade consecutively, cementing its reputation for value and service.

Today, AirAsia is more than an airline. Through its digital arm, Capital A, the company has diversified into e-commerce, fintech, logistics, and digital services — positioning itself as an ASEAN digital travel and lifestyle platform headquartered at RedQ, its iconic campus near KLIA in Sepang, Selangor.

What We Do

AirAsia provides affordable air travel and digital lifestyle services across Asia, serving millions of passengers annually through its low-cost airline network and digital ecosystem.

2) Digital Travel Platform – End-to-end travel booking including flights, hotels, activities, and insurance via the airasia SuperApp.

3) Cargo & Logistics – Teleport, AirAsia's logistics arm, provides air cargo and last-mile delivery across ASEAN.

4) Fintech – BigPay, the group's digital financial services brand, offers e-wallet, remittance, and credit products.

5) E-Commerce – airasia Shop provides an online marketplace for retail and F&B products across the region.

6) MRO Services – Aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul services through Asia Aviation Industries.

Notable Projects & Initiatives:
